Premium escape room-style horror

Oxide: Room 104 is a paid game that combines adventure and puzzle elements to create an unsettling experience. This survival-horror challenge is incredibly reminiscent of films like Saw or Cube, in which you play a character who finds himself locked in a motel. Answer riddles, solve puzzles, and try your best to stay alive as you find the only way out.

By combining realistic graphics with cinematic lighting effects, Oxide: Room 104 is a challenging escape room game. It has harder traps and lighter puzzles compared to Escape Room: The Sick Colleague or Tested on Humans: Escape Room.

A puzzler more focused on staying alive

As an escape room experience, Oxide: Room 104 is quite far from its real-world counterparts in the sense that it doesn’t focus much on puzzles. Make no mistake, this game will kill you at every possible turn. Its puzzles are fairly easy since most of them are straightforward and a few of them require taking note of in-game lore and familiarizing yourself with its simple and realistic motel layout.

Going back to the traps, here is where this game shines. Sure, it can get frustrating from the player’s end because once you die, the world resets. With it, you lose progress together with a reset of the randomized elements. There’s a wide variety of threats in this game, and most of them are well-hidden. The need to explore and examine items will most likely catch you off guard.

With the escape room offering this much content, it’s almost easy to look past its cliched storyline. If you’ve seen the film franchises mentioned above, this game has essentially the same premise. Additionally, the voice acting is something that could use more work. The casual description of objects lacks a sense of danger and urgency considering the location you’re in.

Bland story, great escape room

Essentially, Oxide: Room 104 is a great game as far as escape room experiences are concerned. It has a healthy variety of puzzles to engage the player, and even more so with the traps. Its playthrough hinges on the fact that dying means starting the game all over again. It has poor story and voice acting, but it’s still a fun escape room experience.
